Jaws Performance Exhaust vs Competitors – Which Snowmobile Exhaust Is Best?

We commonly receive messages regarding Jaws Performance exhaust cans Versus other brands on the market. Every few seasons a new brand pops up and is being advertised by a rider with a large social media following ..... But is that exhaust helping your modern snowmobile with its peak performance capabilities?

Let’s take a look at some key facts. Your modern snowmobile has some very sophisticated technology for how it’s using exhaust temp sensors and a ambient air temp sensor for key feedback to the ECM to provide optimum EFI calibration fuel logs & optimum timing for peak performance. Engine horsepower levels are at an all time high in the industry, Engine reliability is very high and machines are now lighter then ever before.

How does Jaws ensure that their product meets or exceeds factory exhaust products for trail & mountain performance?

JAWS PERFORMANCE LTD was established in 1989 in Manotick, Ontario. Since their inception they have progressively developed to become one of the primary manufacturers of performance exhaust systems for snowmobiles across North America and Europe.  In 2002 they moved to their current location in North Gower, Ontario where they offer second to none design, testing and manufacturing that is all done in house.  Their equipment offers precise results from their personalized computer engine simulation programs to their two Borghi Savari/Superflow Engine Dyno test cells and custom chassis dyno.  They manufacture all our exhaust systems and lightweight silencers in house right from the rolls of steel, punch and die’s, unique stamping, to precision assembly.  They build for and supply to manufacturers and other performance companies.  Jaws Performance is the foundation on which many of these companies rely on for quality and performance.

All Jaws snowmobile exhausts are Dyno tested on that exact model and year machine to verify it maintains OEM horsepower. Every single 2 Stroke Turbo silencer / can is flow tested before putting in the box to verify a precise measurement.

Now the competitors…. Often made overseas where they are never tested on a snowmobile. We talked earlier about all the technology from the modern snowmobile – This is where performance is often lost by that hot new brand X that you see sold on social media. Longevity is less due to quality of welding and materials used , That titanium exhaust is cracking after a few rides? Failing a few sensors a season? Has a phantom “ Bog “ that’s effecting performance? In house dyno – Of course not!

Race Technology transferred into Mountain And Trail Performance

Jaws Performance LTD is one of the only companies that offer hand made custom race pipes for any configuration 2 stroke snowmobile engine and also offer bolt on trail / mountain performance silencers.   A large part of the snowmobile racing world use JAWS PIPES to power them to the podium.  Their successes are numerous because of our commitment to supply only the best.  They lead the industry in technology and reliability. If you follow any current record that’s held on a 2 stroke snowmobile on any racing surface you will find one thing in common… They are utilizing Jaws Performance drag racing pipes. Jaws takes this same performance goal from the drag racing world and inputs it directly into the trail and mountain performance scene producing high performance single exhaust pipes for bolt on horsepower gains. This is where your 850 N/A or 850 Turbo ski-doo gets a boost in horsepower thanks to their technology.

Here are a few FAQ’s we commonly get regarding aftermarket snowmobile exhausts

1) Will I lose horsepower if I install a can / silencer?

No, All Jaws Performance silencers maintain OEM HP. There’s a small increase only on select Polaris models only.

2) Will it be too loud? Are there sound options?

For newer model machines from common models 2010 to current there are 3 sound level options which are Rowdy – Loudest and lightest option with an open mod sound , Race – Mid level sound option with a deeper tone & Trail – Respectable sound level that’s stock at low RPM with a little sound at full throttle. On older models often Race is the only sound level option offered. See each listing on our website for what sound levels are available for your model. See picture below of an example of 3 options.

3) What finish options are available for my model?

All 2 Stroke turbo mufflers from Jaws Performance are made from Stainless Steel due to the excessive heat produced by the Turbo, The additional heat requires an exotic material to have longevity in the product. All Naturally aspirated (N/A) 2 stroke mufflers are produced in steel with a high temperature black paint. For some select newer common models there is a Titanium Cerakote finish available. Please note that they sell very fast and are usually only available at the beginning of the season. -- Picture below of the difference

4) Will I get a check engine light due to using an aftermarket muffler?Answer: No, Jaws performance spends many hours on their dyno to verify everything they produce. As a performance based company they understand the technology and ensure it does not give a check engine light.

5) Will I be able to install the muffler myself? Any special tools?

Answer: Yes, you will be able to put it on. Only a few basic tools required and a spring puller helps. If no spring puller a work boot shoe lace is a good trick to removing the exhaust springs

-- We also have a video on our Youtube Channel going over silencer options from Jaws Performance. Note that the " Chrome " option is no longer available at this time and switched out to Titanium Cerakote.
